The Ham and Legs Show #087

For Joe Sanchez.

Why does the GOP hate America and want its national security to be at risk along with its fiscal solvency?  They don't want to sign the START Treaty with Russia, and they don't want the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy to expire, thus adding $70 Billion a year to the deficit.  But, Social Security is an option to gut...even though it has nothing to do with the deficit.  Oh, they also blocked passage of the fair pay act, citing lawsuits as a problem.  Well, if businesses are paying people fairly, they shouldn't worry about lawsuits.  The Dems are poised to force the GOP to vote against just tax cuts for incomes up to $200/person....did they finally grow a spine?

On the DADT front, Joe Lieberman feels he has the votes in the Senate to repeal....let's hope!

Joe Miller won't concede to Murkowski....ugh.

A newly elected congressman from Maryland is all in a tiff about his Federal Health care not kicking in for 28 days after he starts serving.  Now, most jobs have a delay in your health care benefits when you start, but the kicker here is he's against the Health Care Act and pissed his FEDERAL health care isn't kicking in for 28 days...hypocrite much?

How bout those new x-ray machines at the airport?  Worried about how you look naked?  Well, now everyone can see!!

And, congratulations to Prince Williiam and his lady, Kate Middleton.  Is it just Ham or doesn't it seem like a bad omen to give Kate his mother's engagement ring, since his parents got divorced??

Anyway, hope you enjoy this week's show.

Talk at you later.

I say NO to the radiation. NO to keeping the photos. NO to the “hands on my junk” unless my wife approves...i did take a vow and sign a contract.

Women bringing home the same pay:
Of course they should... ALL things being equal. But “ALL things being equal” is a matter of perception and a judgment call (i know you'll disagree). I would like to know who funded the study. I am going to think about who goes in what position according to what it takes to do that job. I’ve not experienced women being paid less in the IT field or the non-star Union pay acting jobs.

Hiring men over women due to reproductive possibilities:
I don’t think every person is good for every job. Say a job requires a ton of overtime and travel and a 5 year commitment to see the project to a finish line. As owner/boss/etc I am going to bring in the best candidates based off of resume and experience. Then I’m going to talk to each and make a judgment call as to who will be able to actually do the job based on all sorts of things not to mention I’m going to look at their Facebook page and see if they spill company secrets through their iPhone while on a smoke break. So things like child birth do come into play…man or woman IF it will cause the company undue stress or financial loss. Who in the family brings in the most money currently would weigh in…many things outside of resume and experience would come into play. If I hire incorrectly, then the company could suffer financial losses, other employees could be affected…etc. Money just doesn’t magically create itself in companies. There is a business and a bottom line that has to be upheld otherwise no one works albeit in a way that is as fair and balanced as possible.

    Alvin’s 20%
This is 20% of the population that votes a straight ticket. Alvin is Alvin. Palin is Palin. But voting a straight ticket should be criminalized. No one should be able to vote a straight ticket.

    Stark Treaty
Just an example of how stupid politics.

    GLEE
It’s entertainment. If it gets ratings, it’s creating jobs and making people enjoy a slice of time in the current economic crisis.
